Resting in God’s Knowledge Over Our Guilt

😊☀️👋🏻 Good morning, friend!

Welcome back to Daily Hope! Today, we’re looking at a powerful truth about how God’s knowledge of us is greater than our guilt. I’m excited for us to explore this together as we uncover what it means to rest in God’s understanding rather than in our own self-condemnation.

Personal Devotion:

📖 Today’s Word:

“Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything.”
— 1 John 3:20 (NLT)

💡 Heart of the Message:

Have you ever noticed how much weight we place on our own feelings? When guilt comes, it can feel all-consuming, like it’s the only voice that matters. But today’s verse gives us an amazing truth: God’s knowledge is greater than our feelings.

God sees our hearts completely—our struggles, our intentions, and our desires to follow Him, even when we fall short. He understands us more deeply than we understand ourselves, and He extends grace that reaches beyond any accusation we make against ourselves. His knowledge of us, both our weaknesses and our strengths, doesn’t condemn us but instead shows us His compassion and love.

This truth gives us freedom to come to God just as we are, resting not in how we feel but in what God knows. No matter how strong those feelings of guilt may seem, remember that God’s love and grace are even stronger.

❓ Reflect and Respond:

  1. Digging Deeper: How does it make you feel to know that God understands you fully and doesn’t condemn you? How can this truth impact your relationship with Him?

  2. Applying the Text: When guilt arises, practice shifting your focus from your feelings to God’s knowledge of you. What’s one way you can remind yourself of this truth today?

🎯 Live It Out:

Today, whenever you feel guilt or self-doubt, stop and take a moment to pray. Thank God for knowing you fully and still loving you completely. Choose to rest in His understanding rather than your own feelings.

👨‍👩‍👧 Family Devotion:

📖 Kids’ Verse of the Day:

“God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything.” — 1 John 3:20

💬 Family Devotion:

Sometimes, we feel bad about things we’ve done, and we’re afraid that people might think badly of us. But guess what? God knows everything about us—even things no one else does—and He still loves us! That’s because God’s love isn’t based on what we do or don’t do. It’s based on who He is.

1 John 3:20 tells us that God is greater than our feelings. So when we feel bad or guilty, we can come to Him and know that He understands us better than we understand ourselves. And He’s always ready to forgive and help us start fresh. Isn’t that amazing?

🗣️ Talk It Over:

  • Ask your kids: Have you ever felt like hiding when you did something wrong? How does it feel to know that God already understands and loves you no matter what?

🎯 Family Mission:

Today, find one way to show forgiveness to someone, whether it’s in your family, at school, or in your neighborhood. Let your kindness show others the same love that God has for us.

🎤 Sing Together:

“My God is So Big” is a fun, upbeat song that reminds kids of God’s greatness and His power over everything—including our feelings and struggles.

You can listen to it here.

🙏 Family Prayer:

"God, thank You for knowing us so well and for loving us no matter what. Help us to remember that we can always come to You, even when we feel bad. Thank You for being so forgiving and kind. Amen."
